What changed

At midnight UTC on July 10, the sports taker-fee coefficient changed from 0.03 to 0.05 and the maker rebate changed from 25% to 15%.

What did not change

The update did not introduce a maker trading fee. Current documentation still lists maker fee as 0, and it does not say every Polymarket category now has the same fee treatment.

Why this matters

The taker charge depends on the share price and is applied when an order matches. A remembered flat percentage or a blanket “fee-free” label can therefore misstate the actual cost.

A practical before-and-after check

Before the check

A reader assumes all Polymarket trades are fee-free because older summaries used that description.

Better process

Before placing a sports order, the reader checks the current fee table and treats the displayed match-time fee—not a remembered headline—as the cost input.

How to record itRecord sports as category-specific and time-sensitive: taker coefficient 0.05, maker fee 0, maker rebate 15% in the current official documentation.

What to verify before acting

  1. Confirm that the market category is currently fee-enabled.
  2. Check the current fee schedule at the intended share price.
  3. Distinguish the taker fee from the maker rebate and from network or funding costs.
